Hours: 8am-5pm Monday - Friday Pay: $20.43 an hourGeneral Definition: A Claims Assistant provides administrative support in a claims office setting, handling claims files, assisting claims managers, adjusters, and examiners with their day-to-day tasks, and ensuring smooth office operations. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as proficiency in office software and a reliable work ethic.
Special Training, Education, Knowledge, and Skills Required: - Education:
- A college degree or equivalent business experience is preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with computers and office software (Microsoft Windows and Office, in particular).
- Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong communication skills to interact with clients, colleagues, and external parties (via phone, email, or in person).
- Ability to maintain professionalism and handle sensitive situations.

- Must be organized, detail-oriented, and patient in completing tasks.
- Must be able to work well within a team environment.
Major Duties of Position: - Review incoming claims and assign them to the appropriate adjuster, ensuring that referrals are properly directed.
- Confirm coverage details and resolve any coverage-related issues.
- Assist with assignments to appraisers and property specialists as directed by the Department Claims Manager (DCM).
- Order office supplies as needed to ensure smooth office operation.
- Complete and maintain monthly claims reports reflecting the current workload of all adjusters in the Department Claims Office (DCO).
- Receive incoming calls, take loss reports, and relay messages. Monitor the office MBX (mailbox) for incoming communication.
- Assist adjusters by providing instructions to insureds and claimants, delivering checks, and obtaining signed releases when required.
- Help with initial claims processing, including ordering police or theft reports, arranging appraisals, and handling other preliminary tasks.
- Assist with glass-related claims when necessary.
- Assist the DCM in managing the daily operational tasks related to claims processing.
- Perform entries and corrections in Exceed and PMS systems as required, ensuring accurate records.
- Issue stop payments on claims when necessary to prevent or correct errors.
- Run daily CCC reports and maintain records to track claims data.
