Claims Coordinator (Hybrid)

Location: Cumberland, RI | Start Date: 12/9/2024 | End Date: 6/6/2025

Are you experienced in claims management and ready to make an impact? We are seeking a Claims Coordinator to join our team and play a critical role in managing claims, performing risk analysis, and developing strategies to protect the organization. This is a hybrid role with on-site training and occasional travel to property damage sites.

Core Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with in-house and external counsel to resolve claims, leveraging expertise in company systems, damage valuation, and legal processes.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of claims, including scene investigations, document reviews, witness interviews, and research.
  • Analyze legal liability and damages to determine claim merit.
  • Negotiate resolutions with claimants, attorneys, and insurers.
  • Manage claims lifecycle, from initial loss to conclusion, including defense strategy formulation.
  • Pursue recovery for damages to company property, testify in trials if needed, and decide on claim settlements or write-offs.
  • Provide regular claims updates to management and assist in trial preparations or settlement conferences as required.
  • Proactively identify and address operational deficiencies to reduce exposure or increase recovery.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with 2–4 years of claims or paralegal experience OR 6+ years of relevant experience with a strong understanding of tort liability and damages.

Skills & Licensure:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Critical analysis and multitasking abilities.
  • Knowledge of business operations and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with National Electric Safety Code, NFPA codes, and relevant state/federal regulations.
  • Experience with claims databases, legal billing, and research tools.
  • Background in the utility industry.

Work Schedule & Travel

  • Hybrid role based in Cumberland, RI.
  • Initial training: 5 days/week in-office.
  • Ongoing schedule: Monday/Friday remote, Tuesday–Thursday in-office.
  • 10–15% travel to property damage sites.
