What you will be doing:
* Attends and represents company as corporate representative (or other representative capacity) at depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre-trials, trials and all other legal proceedings, as needed.
* Defend, negotiate and/or settle claims.
* Signs all interrogatory responses on behalf of company.
* Works in conjunction with assigned defense counsel, litigation examiner and management in the proper handling of every claim and lawsuit in which the Corporate Representative will be involved.
* Monitor assigned lawsuits and oversees the timely disposition of litigated claims.
* Document all relevant information in the claims management system.
* Maintain effective diary management system to ensure that assigned claims are handled timely.
* Conducts coverage analysis based on application of policy information, facts, or allegations of each case.
* Verifies the nature and extent of property damage by obtaining and reviewing appropriate records and damages documentation.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
What you already have:
Education, Experience, and Licensing:
* Bachelor's degree in law, business, or insurance preferred; high school diploma required.
* Licensed Florida Attorney, preferred.
* Active Florida 6-20 Insurance license required.
* 5+ years of first-party property claims adjusting experience required.
* 3+ years' experience as Corporate Representative required; property and casualty segment preferred.
Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:
* Knowledge of legal procedures and practices.
* Knowledge of Florida Rules of Civil Procedure and Florida Rules of Evidence, especially as related to corporate representative depositions.
* Knowledge of P&C claims litigation.
* Proficiency in homeowners' insurance policies and coverage.
* Effectively communicate and summarize complex lawsuits.
* Research, analyze, and evaluate insurance policy contracts and state statutes as applicable to litigated claims.
* Demonstrated ability to research, conduct proactive investigations and negotiate successful resolutions.
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities effectively.
* Results driven with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
* Ability to testify in legal proceedings.
* Demonstrated customer service focus/superior customer service skills.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to interact on a professional level with internal and external personnel including agents, policy holders, Claims unit personnel, external and internal stakeholders, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
* Collaborative partner: ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
* Effective negotiator.
* Strong analytical and communication skills.
* Ability to think critically and objectively.
* Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize effectively.
* Solid working proficiencies of business operations, procedures, and priorities with a strong ability to support change and impart value within an organization.
* Proficient in other MSO/365 applications such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
