Job Description:
Overview The Amtrust Claims Workers' Compensation and Managed Care Analytics team is looking for a Claims Data & Analytics Specialist who will be responsible for supporting the Claims organization by providing analytics and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness, as well as communicating insights derived from claims data to the actuarial and underwriting organizations to enhance risk selection and pricing. The right candidate will bring a balance of analytical, data strategy, execution, and communication skills to the table. Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with Claims and Actuarial leadership teams to coordinate complex analysis of claims trends and patterns.
  • Learns the Workers' Compensation Claims process and the data that it generates.
  • Drives the creation of a robust data foundation for Workers' Compensation and Managed Care, by becoming an expert in both internal and external data sources.
  • Prepares deliverables for, and collaborates with, senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Supports Claims leadership team with ad-hoc requests.
  • Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Epidemiology, Operations Research, or a quantitative Social Science.
  • 3+ years financial or operational analytical experience in the insurance industry.
  • Adept at analyzing large and ambiguous data sets with an ability to spot trends and present business insights.
  • Experience with MS Office, particularly Excel and SharePoint.
  • Experience writing advanced SQL queries
  • Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik, or a similar data visualization tool.
  • Familiarity with at least one statistical programming language such as R, SAS, Python, SPSS, or Stata.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across business units
Preferred:
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field
  • Prior experience working with Claims and/or medical data
  • Familiarity with standard medical coding such as CPT, HCPCS, ICD, NDC codes, etc.
