What to Expect?The key role of the position is to transport trailers within the property form the staging areas to the Suncoast/Sun Wholesale Supply buildings to be processed. The position may require off-site pickups and deliveries as well as minor mechanical repairs. The Yard Driver will be responsible for all DOT regulations on and off site. He/She will report to the Warehouse Manager. This function plays a pivotal role in the success of the product flow from trailer stagging areas to Suncoast/Sun Wholesale Supply buildings. Deliveries and pickups from outside vendors, Pinch stores/CSL Distribution centers, and any other facility that deems pick up or delivery.On a daily basis our Shuttle/ Delivery Driver:
  • Move trailers from storage areas to warehouse doors and to some retail stores deliveries.
  • Ensuring trailers are organized in the yard and staged safely.
  • 90% of deliveries will be Drop and Hook and some may require loading and offloading
  • Driver will consult with the Yard Coordinator. They will manage trailer moves and issues related too.
  • Ensuring all moves are completed before end of shift.
  • Possible trailer repairs and maintenance
  • DOT inspections of yard trailers & yard tractors to ensure safety.
  • Being able to communicate with warehouse associates to ensure moves.
  • Following all safety guidelines regarding trailer move lights on warehouse.
  • Watching for moving vehicles and pedestrians in the yard
  • Perform store deliveries and pick ups as needed per the day-to-day requests.
What You Will Need:
  • Current Medical Card
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Electronic/computer knowledge
  • Class A CDL with HAZMAT endorsement
  • 2 years of recent CDL experience.
  • Required to Driver a Manual Truck for shuttle moves and local deliveries.
  • Tanker endorsement will be necessary within 90 days of employment.
  • A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP) indicating no more than 2 combined violations or at fault accidents in the past 3 years.
  • Must be able to climb in and out of a tractor (utilizing the 3 points of contact)
