CLASSIFIED POSITION(S) AVAILABLE:Loveland Transportation Class B CDL-(PS) Bus DriversBASE SALARY: $22.53/hrNew Transportation Hiring IncentivesLoveland City School District is launching an incentive program to help hire new bus drivers. The program includes paid training for new drivers anda referral bonus for current district employees who refer new drivers.New bus drivers will be paid for the time necessary to complete the required training and testing. The sum of $2,000 will be paid in 2 installments during their first year of employment.Additionally, every Loveland City School District employee is eligible for a $500 finder's fee for recommending a new bus driver for employment. The finder's fee would be paid six months after the new driver is Board approved as a District employee.Districts around the region and across the country are dealing with a shortage of bus drivers. Other duties may be assigned.Transports authorized students to and from school.Transports authorized students to and from extra-curricular activities as necessary.Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.Obeys all traffic laws.Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.Inspects bus before each operation for mechanical defects.Reports student misconduct to the proper authority.Keeps assigned bus clean and reports any mechanical problems to the transportation supervisor.Maintains an assigned schedule.Picks up and discharges students only at authorized stops.Reports all accidents and completes required reports in a timely fashion.Posts and enforces bus regulations such as smoking and eating bans.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEMust have successful prior work experience.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The District surrounds the City of Lovelandand reaches into Symmes, Goshen, Hamilton, and Miami Townships. Loveland Schools serves a population of 50,000 residents, including the City of Loveland.TRANSPORTATIONThe Loveland City School's bus fleet serves more than 5,000 public and private school students daily. Our school buses travel 977 miles each day for private schooltransportation and 2,415 miles for public school transportation. Buses cover 16 square miles of the Loveland School District, as well as providing transportation tostudents from non-public schools who are within 30 minutes of the school they would have attended if they were enrolled in Loveland Schools. There are currently18 different area non-public schools receiving bus service.Job Title: Bus DriverGENERAL DESCRIPTIONProvide safe and timely transportation for school children attending Loveland City Schools by performing the following dutiesQUALIFICATIONS* Must be at least 21 years of age.* Possess a valid Ohio driver's license.* Class B CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements.* Excellent communications skills.* Valid certificate/license as issued by the Ohio Department of Education.PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS* Report to work regularly and on time, prepared to perform appropriately assigned duties throughout the day, in service to students, staff, and the community.* Prepare for and perform all assigned duties required by one's job description in a positive and collaborative manner.* Follow justifiable directives issued by the established chain of authority with a learning-oriented attitude and seek support when needed.* Identify, report, and/or if possible control unsafe conditions or safety hazards in order to maintain safe and secure working and learning environments.* Demonstrate professional respect and integrity when interacting with students, parents, staff, community members and other stakeholders.
