Interprets and explains policies and regulations as they apply to processing classification/compensation transactions. Ensures that all paperwork is complete, accurate, and conforms to all Agency procedures and State Rules and Regulations. Makes salary recommendations and secures appropriate management approvals. Prepares requests for actions requiring Division of State Human Resources (DSHR) approval. Notifies HR Managers (HRMs) of approval/disapproval of requested actions. Forwards paperwork to Operations Unit for processing. Analyzes requests for position descriptions (PD) updates and reclassifications to ensure proper classification. Contacts HRMs and managers to discuss and resolve discrepancies. Prepares non-delegated classification requests for DSHR approval.Serves as a point of contact for HRMs and Agency personnel of assigned areas. Provides guidance and direction related to classification and compensation actions.Counsels and advises HRMs on Homeland Security regulations and e-Verify. Reviews I-9 forms to ensure compliance and processes e-Verify for all new hires in assigned areas of responsibility. Ensures all District new hire paperwork is complete and forwards to Operations Unit for processing.Coordinates the review and approval/disapproval for Outside Employment requests. Serves as Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) subject matter expert. Provides guidance to colleagues and other Agency personnel regarding FLSA exemption status determinations of positions.Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum and Additional RequirementsA bachelor's degree and two and one-half (2.5) years of relevant human resources experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.The physical demands for the essential functions includes sitting or standing at a desk for an extended periods and working on a computer. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. May be required to work outside normal work schedule. Some travel is required.
