Job Description:

NOTE

Ferndale School District is hiring a Resource Paraeducator at Horizon Middle School. This is a continuing position, working 6 hours a day, starting August 28, 2024.

SKILLS/JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR RESOURCE ROOM PARAEDUCATOR POSITIONS

* Experience with students who may have a range of behavior, cognitive and/or physical challenges and/or disabilities desired.

* Ability to provide support for academically, physically, emotionally and/or behaviorally challenging students in a resource or general education setting.

* Heavy lifting may be required.

* Willingness to feed and attend to student hygiene care/needs (i.e. diapering/toileting).

* Work as part of a productive team.

* Implement positive behavior intervention strategies.

* Implement emergency protocols.

* Experience or willingness to be trained in academic interventions and/or Aversive Therapy techniques.

* At least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent (add below-attachments). Transcripts with Associate Degree or higher and Transcripts that list the high school that you graduated will be accepted in place of a high school diploma.

* Receive a passing grade on the education testing service paraeducator assessment; ETS.org Para Pro Test (add below-Highly Qualified Attachment)

OR

* Hold an associates of arts degree (add below-Highly Qualified Attachment)

OR

* Have earned seventy-two quarter credits OR forty- eight semester credits at an institution of higher learning (add below-Highly Qualified Attachment)

Benefits

Employees who are anticipated to work at least 630 hours in a school year are eligible for medical, dental, vision, LTD, and life insurance. In addition, employees working at least 70 hours per month for at least 5 months are required to enroll in the Washington State Retirement System
