CUSTODIAN DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBLITIES To perform general cleaning and custodial functions at assigned school site and to maintain security of assigned school buildings, facilities, and related areas. Employees in this classification receive general supervision within a framework of well-defined policies and procedures. Employees in this job class exercise responsibility for the general cleanliness of assigned areas and grounds within the assigned school site and perform custodial duties at a journey level of classification. SUPERVISOR: As assigned TYPICAL DUTIES •Performs general janitorial, cleaning, and custodial functions at assigned school site •Performs routine maintenance and non-technical repairs such as painting, replacing light bulbs, adjusting shades or blinds and adjusting desks •Observes and reports the need for major maintenance repairs •Reports safety, sanitary, and fire hazards to proper authority •Cleans classrooms, restrooms, locker rooms, gymnasiums, offices, and related school facilities •Sweeps, mops, strips, scrubs, waxes, and polishes concrete, linoleum, tile, and wood floors •Vacuums and shampoos rugs and carpets •Dusts furniture; empties and cleans trash receptacles •Cleans walls, furniture, windows, venetian blinds, woodwork, chalkboards, lockers, and other equipment •Cleans door and window glass and drinking fountains •Picks up papers and debris; cleans walkways and entrances •Assists in the set up and arrangement of furniture and facilities for assemblies, meetings, and special events upon request to include arranging chairs, desks, equipment, etc. •Operates cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor cleaning and polishing machines, scrubbers, etc. •Ensures security of assigned areas; locks and unlocks doors, windows, and gates; turns security alarms on/off as assigned •Maintains equipment used in custodial work •May raise and/or lower flags •May perform routine grounds keeping duties •Performs other duties similar to the above in scope and function as requiredRequirements / QualificationsChosen candidate must clear Live Scan process through Lincoln Unified School district before becoming eligible to be placed on Substitute list. ** Due to the number of applicants, we are not able to respond to individual emails or phone calls.
