This is a unique opportunity which will include the following:
- Work effectively with the teacher and other school staff by maintaining effective communication academic curriculum and behavioral assistance, other duties as assigned.
- Promote social interaction with all students and educational growth.
- Engaging in and being knowledgeable of the teacher's class lessons and conferring with the teacher about appropriate assignments, to effectively aid students.
- Take the lead teacher role in maintaining daily lesson plans and classroom management in the absence of the teacher.
- Maintaining constant supervision of students in the classroom, before/after school, during snack, and during lunch. May be required to provide daily transportation when needed.
- Work with unaccompanied children in compliance with regulations set be the (state and federal government).
Qualifications: (some training will be offered)
- Experience with students with a history of trauma is a plus.
- Some classrooms or recreational experience preferred.
- Ability to hear and verbally communicate with others.
- Ability to interrupt physical altercations among UC students and administer CPR/First Aid.
- Class B driver's license may be required.
- Training to meet the special needs of unaccompanied children if highly preferred.
What You Bring to VDM:
- BA or AA degree. Teaching English as a Second Language/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages certification or other appropriate requirements.
- Minimum 1 year experience working with children who have experienced trauma.
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Must have a good driving record and valid California Driver's License.
- COVID-19 Vaccination Card (fully vaccinated with booster) required.
