SUMMARYWe are seeking a full-time classroom teacher to join our team at Greyhound Intermediate School. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching fifth-grade students and a passion for developing young minds. The classroom teacher will be responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters academic growth and social-emotional development.POSITION: Classroom Teacher - Grade 5BUILDING: Greyhound Intermediate SchoolDATE OF AVAILABILITY: January 2025CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:Must possess a valid Michigan elementary teaching certificateKnowledge of and commitment to best practices as supported by current research to teach the District's adopted curriculum; willingness to attend workshops to strengthen skillsExperience and expertise with differentiated and data-based small group instruction; knowledge of Michigan's Literacy Essentials practices for grades 3-5; able to apply research-based instructional practices in vocabulary, fluency, word study, comprehension, and phonemic awarenessKnowledge of Michigan's Essential Instructional Practices in MathematicsMust support and participate in the schools' efforts to create a positive school climate and promote appropriate student behaviorMust support inclusionary classroom practices, be willing to work with special needs students, special education co-teacher, and assigned aidesAbility to integrate technology into the curriculumExcellent classroom management skillsAbility to use assessments and student data to drive meaningful instructionCommitted to working in a high profile school and being a part of a professional learning communityWillingness to maintain/facilitate frequent conversations/communication with parents outside of the designated Parent/Teacher ConferencesKeep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for teachersCompile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents requiredA COMPLETED ONLINE APPLICATION IS REQUIRED: See application instructions at under Human Resources - Employment Opportunities.
