ABOUT JAMES BALDWIN ACADEMY
Were looking for an enthusiastic Classroom Therapist who's dedicated to providing outstanding mental health, case management, and consultation services to grades 6-12 students at our San Leandro based nonpublic school, James Baldwin Academy. As a Classroom Therapist, youll collaborate with JBAs knowledgeable school staff to oversee therapeutic and case management services, conduct mental health assessments, as well as create and implement individual behavioral plans. Our Classroom Therapists continually grow in expertise around clinical issues in the classroom and find evidence-based and creative ways to foster a therapeutic milieu that solves these challenges.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct therapeutic sessions with students and families using evidence-based modalities
- Provide comprehensive case management and social services to support academic and personal development
- Create and monitor individualized behavioral goals, adjusting them as needed for positive changes
- Oversee classroom behavioral interventions, collaborating with educators for an optimal learning environment
- Monitor and communicate regarding psychotropic medications for student well-being
- Develop and maintain meaningful therapy contacts with students and families
- Offer expert consultation to the education team, integrating therapeutic principles for student success
- Provide crisis intervention for students, using de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts; this may include physical management of clients
Qualifications:
REQUIRED
- Masters degree in social work / psychology / counseling / marriage family therapy
- Registered or eligibility to register with California BBS: ASW, AMFT, APCC
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies insurance policy
- TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
- Proof of up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination
PREFERRED
- Experience working with youth in a mental health or education setting is strongly
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team member and contribute to the growth and development of an engaged program culture
Schedule:
- School based schedule:
- Monday to Friday: 8 AM- 4:30 PM
- 5 weeks of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and 14 paid school break days
Benefits:
- Starting at $71,080 - $85,080 per year, commensurate with experience
- $4000 salary increase upon licensure
- Salary increase upon passing a bilingual language proficiency exam may be available
