Job Summary
This is a casual (non-benefit eligible role). Schedules are flexible depending on the needs of the department.
The Cleaner I is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and condition standards of the College's buildings and immediate grounds. The Cleaner I performs a variety of housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in both residential and administrative settings. This entry-level position involves routine cleaning tasks and requires attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently to ensure a clean and safe environment for residents or occupants.
+ Perform general cleaning tasks, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
+ Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, showers, and countertops.
+ Clean and disinfect kitchen areas, including countertops, appliances, and sinks.
+ Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with established procedures.
+ Clean and polish mirrors, glass surfaces, and windows as needed.
+ Replenish cleaning supplies and notify supervisor of any shortages or equipment malfunctions.
+ Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency.
+ Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor promptly.
Hourly rate for this position is $18/per hour
Education/Skills Requirements
+ Some high school education.
+ Ability to read, write and understand the written word, and perform basic mathematical computations.
+ Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
+ Ability to communicate and relate well with a variety of people both on and off campus.
+ Ability to work successfully both independently and in a team with minimum supervision.
+ Physical stamina and strength to perform repetitive tasks and lift/move heavy objects.
Preferred:
+ High School Diploma or GED
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
+ Minimum six months of related experience.
Preferred:
+ Previous experience in housekeeping, janitorial, or custodial work.
+ Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, chemicals, and equipment.
Standard Work Days and Hours
The part-time Cleaner I schedule is 5:00 am - 9:00 am Monday through Friday. Schedule and hours may change depending on the needs of the department.
