Position Summary: SUNY Ulster County Community College, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is currently accepting applications for a Cleaner in our Plant Operations Department.
Duties and Responsibilities: The typical work activities listed below, while providing representative examples of the variety of work assignments in the title, do not describe any individual position. Incumbents in this title may perform some or all of the following, as well as other related activities not described:
- Dusts chairs, tables, desks, and other furniture;
- Washes windows, walls, bathrooms, water closets, tubs and chalk boards;
- Sweeps, mops, washes, strips, waxes and oils floors;
- Gathers and disposes of refuse;
- Fills bathroom dispensers;
- Cleans and polishes furniture and metal furnishings;
- May vacuum and shampoo rugs;
- May direct traffic during special events;
- May move furniture;
- May clear snow and ice from walks, steps and pathways;
- May, on occasion, secure buildings.
Full Performance Knowledges, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics - Working knowledge of routine cleaning operations, materials and equipment
- Ability to understand and follow simple oral and/ or written instructions
- Thoroughness; cleanliness; physical condition commensurate to the demands of the position.
Minimum Qualifications: And - Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.
Salary: $18.10 an hour. This position is 35 hours per week; Monday through Friday 5:30 am - 1:30 pm.
