Who you are: As an
Engineering Manager - Database at Frost, you are our subject matter-expert by overseeing the operation and performance of Database Management Systems. You will lead, mentor, and manage a team of Database Engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment. More than that, this role is about efficient and effective collaboration and doing it with integrity, caring and excellence in mind.
What you'll do: - Oversee daily operations of Database Engineers
- Oversee the operation and performance of Database Management Systems
- Lead other members of staff as it relates to knowledge of the Relational Database Management System and hardware
- Implement, maintain, and monitor disaster recovery systems
- Provide advanced troubleshooting assistance for database related issues
- Walk employees through process/procedures and provide support to other end user support organizations
- Manage system problems after hours if necessary
- Conduct employee performance appraisals and provide input to management regarding staffing
- Ensure that internal controls are in place and functioning properly
- Always take action using Integrity, Caring, and Excellence to achieve all-win outcomes
What you'll need: - Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience
- Advanced knowledge in independently diagnosing and resolving intricate issues across interconnected programs and systems, ability to develop and implement effective, innovative solutions, typically requiring a minimum of 7+ years of experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in providing technical leadership and guidance to teams, with a focus on mentoring and developing junior engineers
- Advanced-level knowledge in specific engineering disciplines and technologies such as encryption, replication, performance testing, high-availability, partitioning, and advanced troubleshooting skills that connect-the-dot between various applications and technologies
- Extensive experience in managing complex project and solving advanced engineering related issues
- Strong knowledge in designing, analyzing, and optimizing complex systems or products
- Excellent level of written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office applications
