The Department of Facilities Management and Development at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Cleaner. Cleaners perform a wide range of cleaning tasks to maintain assigned areas in State buildings, and surrounding grounds and walkways. Incumbents work independently or as part of a cleaning team in a variety of settings, such as administrative office, classroom, hospital, laboratory, living, treatment, and other work areas. Illustrative Duties Performs a variety of cleaning tasks in assigned areas. Collects and empties trash and recycling in accordance with cleaning schedules; cleans and/or removes hazardous or misplaced items, waste, and spills; and disposes, transports, or places such in appropriate receptacles and locations, following proper cleaning procedures. Assembles cleaning carts according to assigned tasks; and prepares, mixes, and dilutes cleaning solutions following manufacturer directions.
