We serve a large population that is among the most diverse in the world.Bargaining Unit: CSEAJob Summary: The Department of Facilities Management and Development at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Cleaner. Cleaners perform a wide range of cleaning tasks to maintain assigned areas in State buildings, and surrounding grounds and walkways. Incumbents work independently or as part of a cleaning team in various settings, such as administrative offices, classrooms, hospitals, laboratories, living areas, treatment, and other work areas.Illustrative Duties:Performs a variety of cleaning tasks in assigned areas.Collects and empties trash and recycling; cleans and/or removes hazardous or misplaced items, waste, and spills.Assembles cleaning carts and prepares cleaning solutions following manufacturer directions.Washes floors, corridors, stairwells, walls, partitions, and windows.Vacuums, strips, and waxes floors, and shampoos carpets.Scrubs and cleans showers and restrooms.Replaces light bulbs and dusts or washes light fixtures.Polishes wood and metal surfaces, fixtures, furniture, and equipment.Monitors cleaning supplies and equipment.Moves and arranges furniture and equipment as needed.May perform specialized cleaning tasks and maintenance duties as required.Required Qualifications:Labor Class: No education or experience requirements.
