Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to Gouverneur laboratory front desk, quality assurance, and inventory.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Process patients in the Epic electronic medical record system through accurate patient chart review and patient registration for the ordered Labs.
  • Verifying insurances during scheduling and registration process.
  • Provide patients with appropriate collection containers and proper instructions for take-home collection in the appropriate language.
  • Organize patient flow.
  • Greet patients as established in customer service techniques.
  • Perform all clerical duties as it pertains to the needs of the laboratorya. Xeroxing laboratory materialsb. Maintaining inventory laboratory supply levels and stock lab suppliesc. Assist with patient translation
  • Handle incoming telephone calls
  • Check incoming patient specimens for proper specimen collection
  • Assist with translations for patient instructions
  • Ordering laboratory suppliesa. Northwell weekly
  • Perform inventory for laboratory supply levels (noting expiration dates)
  • Stock incoming laboratory supplies.
  • Package and distribute lab supplies to the clinic & nursing facility areas.
  • Performs duties related to departmental needs.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or its educational equivalent; and
  • Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience and/or experience interacting with the public, such as processing sales; talking, processing, and delivering orders; obtaining and dispensing information; listening to and resolving customers concerns, problems, and complaints; and/or performing related customer service activities.
  • Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute. DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES
    • Ability to work with patients of all age groups.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft office programs
    • Good customer service skills
