Major tasks and responsibilities are as follows:Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Utilizing EPIC system, Clerical Associates are responsible to register Emergency Room patients. Clerical Associates are responsible to register patients with the Appropriate insurance codes and financial class. Clerical Associates are required to verify all insurance via RTE/insurance websites and scan responses in EPIC's Media Manager. Utilizing the EPIC system, Clerical Associates are responsible to verify, update, and correct all patient information. Clerical Associates are responsible to review and scan all appropriate documents in EPIC's Media Manager. Clerical Associates are responsible to collect patients Emergency Room co-pay, if applicable. Clerical Associate are responsible to process credit card payments. Contact the Cashier on duty in the Emergency Room to collect and process cash co-payments from patients. Distributes Special Account Metro-Cards to ED discharged patients when applicable during the Cashier/Transportation Department's off tours. Reconciliation of metro-Cards and sheet following distribution is required. Prepare, and e-mail transportation request vouchers and PCS (if applicable) to the Transportation Department for process @ ...@nychhc.org. Arrange transportation for discharged patients utilizing Medical Answering Services (MAS), / DOC-GO. Prior to arranging transportation, Finance Clerical Associate is responsible to verify insurance eligibility, and proper mode of transportation (livery, ambulette, ambulance) ordered. This task is required from the Clerical Associates during the Cashier/Transportation Department's off tours. Treat all patients in a courteous and respectful manner, and with special regard to adhering to the Privacy Act as part of the HIPAA law. Perform other tasks assigned by the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director Nursing, and other clinical staff. Clerical Associates are to perform all duties as assigned by Supervisor. Perform all duties in alignment with the mission, vision, values, and behavioral expectations of NYC H+H.Minimum Qualifications1. A high school diploma or its educational equivalent; and2. Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience and/or experience interacting with the public, such as processing sales; taking, processing, and delivering orders; obtaining and dispensing information; listening to and resolving customers concerns, problems, and complaints; and/or performing related customer service activities.Department Preferences Knowledge-comprehension of information acquired by experience or study.
