Job DescriptionPurpose:SBH WIC program was approved for a new 5-year contract agreement (C38300GG) ending Sept 30, 2028 that now includes 3 sites: the main campus of SBH; 2101 Mermaid Ave and 1902 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn. Clerical positions are essential roles, fully funded by the WIC grant from the DOH-WIC to screen income and enroll our clients into the WIC Program. Clerks will provide basic WIC Program information to applicants, following established federal rules and regulations governing the WIC Program. We need more professional staff in different capacities (Clerks, Dietitians & Breastfeeding Peer Counselors) in order to align with our new contract agreement to cover the expanded program with higher assigned caseload (from 6200 to 7800 clients) in all three sites.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:The [Clerical Associate III] is charged with and responsible for: Following established federal rules and regulation governing the WIC Program provide basic program information to applicants. Maintain proper scheduling in NYWIC system. Schedule initial and subsequent certification appointment for clients. Responsible for calling participants that are interested in applying for the WIC Program. Provide basic WIC Program information and basic nutrition education to applicants, following established federal rules and regulations governing the WIC Program.
Minimum Qualifications1. A high school diploma or its educational equivalent; and2. Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience and/or experience interacting with the public, such as processing sales; taking, processing, and delivering orders; obtaining and dispensing information; listening to and resolving customers concerns, problems, and complaints; and/or performing related customer service activities.
Department Preferences Knowledge: Graduation from a senior high school or evidence of having passed an examination for a high school equivalency diploma. Skill: Satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience. Ability: Good verbal & social skills to communicate with multicultural environment.
