Assignments are based on daily need and available coverage.These tasks include the following but are limited to:
  • Conduct patient interviews to obtain identifying information, such as demographic, biographic and Insurance status.
  • Information is entered accurately, into the UNITY system.
  • Generate Medical Record Numbers for new patients.
  • Perform systems checks to verify insurance coverage including ePaces for Medicaid.
  • Assess patients' eligibility for Medicaid or HHC Options. Complete HHC Options assessment in Unity EFC.
  • Verify third party coverage and obtain authorizations when required.
  • Oversee staff performance (through the Performance Appraisal process) for accuracy, completeness, and meeting performance standards.
  • As a Certified Application Counselor (CAC), screen and enroll eligible uninsured patients for Insurance coverage.
  • Perform other assignments as deemed necessary by the department.
Minimum Qualifications1. A high school diploma or its educational equivalent; and2. Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience and/or experience interacting with the public, such as processing sales; taking, processing, and delivering orders; obtaining and dispensing information; listening to and resolving customers concerns, problems, and complaints; and/or performing related customer service activities.NYC Health and Hospitals offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
