Summary:
The Clerical Coordinator organizes, coordinates, and ensures effective operation of the department, taking into account the effects of their decisions on the 24-hour operations of the unit. This position uses independent judgement in problem solving, takes necessary action to resolve issues, organizes workflow, assigns employees, and participates in budget planning and compliance.

Responsibilities:
* Coordinates and maintains accountability for complex multifaceted department.
* Provides administrative clerical support.
* Exhibits initiative and knowledge to ensure operation carry on in the usual manner in the absence of the manager.
* Monitors workflow and make appropriate changes when indicated.
* Participates in assigned leadership initiatives.
* Direct and maintains accountability by ensuring appropriate scheduling and utilization of staff.
* Responsible for the administration of Workforce Management (WFM) and payroll.
* Addresses concerns with time and attendance and ensuring accurate reporting for employees' time for payroll.
* Collaborates with clinical leadership to assure balancing of staffing.
* Performs routine clerical duties and special assignments as requested.
* Collects, compiles, and prepares data to support departmental metrics.
* Addresses corrective action for non-clinical related concerns.
* Participates in strategic planning to improve patient outcomes.
* Participates in Quality Assurance measures and in planning and implementing identified improvements.
* Coaches, mentors, encourages, and motivates employees to work together as an effective team.
* Integrates continual performance improvement into the structure and processes of the unit and the daily practice of team members to achieve desired outcomes.
* Aligns all unit activities with unit, department, and institution performance improvement goals, and channel resources to high leverage opportunities.
* Analyze and review data with the ability to provided reporting as needed.
* Assist in resolving billing and coding questions from an operational standpoint.
* Demonstrates excellent customer service in all contacts with internal and external customers.

* Lead non-clinical staff and support operationally when indicated.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
* Associate degree in business, office management or related field in healthcare setting required.
* Bachelor degree preferred.
* Experience in billing/coding setting utilizing ICD-10 and references preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
* Demonstrated leadership responsibility by participating in unit committees and participation in Covenant initiatives.
* Demonstrate understanding of basic communication and customer service principles.
* Demonstrated awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and policies related to confidentiality.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Proficient with PC and spreadsheet application, electronic billing, building of schedules templates, and email/calendar applications.
* Knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
* Demonstrated ability to maintain a calm professional demeanor in critical situations.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Strong working knowledge of and ability to apply medical terminology, COY codes, and ICD-10 coding.

* Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
