As the first person encountered by those who enter the schools, the office secretary is responsible for fostering a positive climate and the efficient running of the school office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Performs secretarial and clerical duties assigned by the principal or assistant principal
* Maintains assistant principal's calendar
* Answers telephones, assists parents, teachers, students and visitors
* Maintain and distribute student attendance information
* Manage student attendance using PowerSchool
* Communication regarding attendance with families through the phone, email and attendance letters
* Maintain student behavioral information
* Schedules and coordinates 504 meetings
* Uses district data management system to create reports
* Prepare and distribute daily bulletin
* Assists administrator's secretary with general office responsibilities including but not limited to, answering phones, greeting parents, assisting teachers and students, monitoring building entry.
* Responsible for photocopying and other instructional support tasks
* Maintain and distribute discipline records-detentions, suspensions
* Maintains confidentiality
* Demonstrates positive customer service
* Other duties assigned by building administrator
Qualifications:
* A minimum of high school education and experience in the business area or its equivalent by on the job experience. Added education preferred.
* Computer literate
* General Office training or experience
Physical Demands:*
* Must possess the ability to stand, sit, and walk unassisted
* Must possess normal visual acuity, with or without corrective lenses, and depth perception
* May be required to lift up to 20 pounds

Work Environment:
* Often work indoors, moving between classrooms and other school areas.
* May be exposed to noise levels that are distracting
* Work near others, often within a few feet
* Work related tasks may be subject to deadlines and time constraints
Work Days:
* Monday through Friday, 10 month position following school calendar
Work Scheduled:
* 7.5 hours per day, hours as assigned by Building Administrator
Compensation & Benefits:
* Wages for this position aligns with East WIndsor Classified Personal Contract, school office secretaries CAT III, hourly rate $22.76-$31.00; benefits aligns with part-time clerks & library associates
