We offer on the job training!Our Delray Beach office is seeking a detail-oriented professional with a strong work ethic to join their team in the Mental Health department as a Court Specialist III!In Mental Health, the Clerk's office accepts petitions for Baker Act and Marchman Act cases to protect individuals and families dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues. In this role, you will have to opportunity to work closely with our Judicial partners, mental health professionals & facilities, and local law enforcement. In this role, will learn more about:
  • Marchman Acts - treatment of a person allegedly abusing alcohol or drugs
  • Baker Acts - involuntary institutionalization and examination of an individual
  • Emergency Adult Protection Services
  • And other important areas of law.
Due to the nature of these cases, the Mental Health department is a fast-paced environment with time sensitive deadlines.This position is eligible for a one dollar per hour stipend which has already been added to the salary advertised. The one dollar per hour stipend will be awarded upon completion of the introductory period. The stipend will no longer apply should the employee transfer out of this position.*This position requires up to five days of mandatory onsite training which is conducted at the main courthouse (205 N. Examples of Essential Functions
  • Deliver excellent customer service with a positive, professional attitude.
  • Provide accurate, valid and complete information to the public by using the right methods/tools.
  • Accept and screen court filings from the public and process them accordingly.
  • Collect fees and balance cashier receipts against transactions.
  • Maintain appropriate records and prepare/issue court documents.
  • Certify copies of legal records and court documents.
  • Record and file legal documents.
Typical Qualifications
  • High school diploma (or GED) supplemented by three (3) years of recent and relevant customer service experience that demonstrates the ability to accurately apply acute attention to detail in maintenance of detailed data preferably in an automated systems and/or customer services environment; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
