  • High school diploma and two years of responsible secretarial or clerical administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to deal effectively with associates, and the public.
  • Knowledge of and expertise with modern office practices and procedures, including but not limited to desktop application software such as MS Office, Filemaker Pro
  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
  • Ability to organize and maintain records maintaining varying levels of confidentiality as required
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Job Goal: To provide administrative and secretarial assistance of a confidential, complex, and responsible nature Essential Performance Responsibilities: 1. Perform difficult and varied clerical duties, which involves knowledge of modern office practices, including a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office. 2. Examine, verify and record requisitions, orders, bills, invoices, payrolls, claims, tax returns, and check related items. 3. Use bookkeeping and accounting procedures to keep records, including reconciling bank statements and trial balances 4. Use the computer (Microsoft Office or Word Perfect) to type correspondence, reports, lists, schedules and statements. 6. Prepare vouchers, purchase orders, bills, warrants and other related forms on the computer. 7. Analyze and sort material for filing office and personnel records and maintain general office files. 8. Enter data in computer terminal (PC-based or Macintosh), verify control totals and authorize process of transactions. 9.. Compose routine correspondence using Microsoft Word/Office and Excel 10. Interview visitors, arrange appointments 11. Maintain professional appearance. 12. Supervise one or more clerk-typists or other clerical help. 14. Carries out other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. Job Responsibility Requirements: All work is to be conducted in compliance with applicable employer, state, local and federal safety and environmental requirements. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, and talk or hear. The employee uses repetitive motions in operating office equipment, including keyboards, calculators, fax machines and copiers. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to lift, push and/or move up to 50 pounds, including office supplies and materials. The employee must be able to hear clearly (correctable to within normal limits) to record telephone information. The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from in a noisy environment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision correctable to 20/20, distance vision, depth perception and peripheral vision. Adaptive technology may be used. There is some stress in interacting with children, parents or the public.
