The Clerk I position works either a 7 am - 4 pm or 8 am - 5 pm shift. Clerk I under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager and performs as the unit clerk for assigned unit Performs clerical tasks primarily related to the active and closed clinical record. These tasks include, but are not limited to: keeping up to date with policies and changes from the Medical Records Department in regards to charts, faxing aftercare packets, filing, preparing emergency packets from completed transcribed Hospital Software copies, preparation of Daily Lists of movements, preparation of Physician's Daily Roster, billing from doctor rosters within specified time frames, closing out charts, preparation and delivery of chart for audits and obtaining corrections of active records on an ongoing basis to ensure their completion and accuracy, major chart audits when patient is being transferred, furloughed or discharged. Work involves disseminating information, maintaining filing systems, and performing internal administrative support work, including but not limited to, typing general correspondence for professional scheduling, attending and preparing minutes for the unit meetings, case conferences, and dangerous review board meetings. Completes all travel request and vouchers for the unit. Compiles completed records and maintains records of the unit's mandatory training along with the training rosters. Orders supplies and ensures they are organized. Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Essential Job Functions: 1. Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. 2. Billing for physicians. 3. Emergency packet preparation, preparation of Daily Lists, faxing aftercare packets. 4. Audits of active and closed records. 5. Files and maintains supplies, forms, records, and reports. 6. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location Knowledge Skills Abilities: 1. Knowledge of filing. 2. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications. 3. Knowledge of Avatar, MIMS, and Hurricane. 4. Knowledge of office procedures; of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and arithmetic; and of business or program terminology, methods, and procedures. 5. Skill in the use of a computer and office equipment. 6. Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports. 7. Ability to communicate effectively. Registration or Licensure Requirements: None Initial Selection Criteria: 1. High school graduate or equivalent. 2. One year of clerical or administrative experience preferred. Waco Center for Youth applicants must be 21 years of age. Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, healthcare workers are at significant risk for acquiring or transmitting hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), and influenza. All these diseases are vaccine preventable. Vaccines may be provided. As a result, state hospital policy requires employees be vaccinated according to their level of contact with individuals.
