MassHire Department of Career Services (MDCS) oversees the Commonwealth's network of One-Stop Career Centers, that assist businesses in finding qualified workers and providing job seekers with career guidance, as well as referral to jobs and training. MDCS strengthens the Career Center system through continuous improvement processes, and innovative business practices that maximize resources, foster partnerships, and engage employers to ensure a skilled, motivated, and adaptable workforce capable of meeting the emerging labor market needs of the Commonwealth, now and in the future. The Clerk is responsible for greeting customers in assigned area in a courteous and friendly manner and determining needs of customer. The incumbent will assist customers in the membership registration process and check for completeness, direct customers to appropriate service provider, schedule customers for the Career Center Seminar Orientations and any available job search services/events. The Clerk will answer telephone, route calls and take messages according to established procedures, and data enter information from registration forms and services when needed.

- Determine service needs of customer and direct to appropriate point of service.
- Assist customer with completion of MJQ registration process.
- Schedule customers for Career Center Seminars and workshops.
- Check customers for membership completion in MOSES.
- Answer the telephone in a courteous and pleasant manner. Route calls to appropriate staff and take messages when necessary.
- Accurately enter customer information into MOSES database.
- Maintain confidentiality of all customers at all times.
- Assists customers with signing in to utilize Resource Room computers for self-directed job search.
- Assist customers with faxing, copying, and scanning documents, as needed.
- Conducts reminder calls for Career Center Seminars and may conduct follow up calls to RESEA customers.
- Prepares and provides management with a weekly report for Resource Room Activity.
- Collects surveys from customers in Resource Room.
- Assists job seekers in accessing software programs and websites such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, MassHire JobQuest, UIO, etc.
Qualifications:First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in office work, or (B) an equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below: I. A diploma as evidence of graduation from the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience. * II. A diploma as evidence of graduation from a course other than the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school or possession of a Massachusetts high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for a maximum of eight months of the required experience. * III. A diploma for completion of a one year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum or one year of the required experience. * IV. A diploma for completion of a two-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for the required experience.* * Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
