Overview:
This person is a qualified individual and provides inventory control and parts room organization. Monitors shipments received and matches packing slips. Writes requisitions for parts and other plant items. Maintains the plant equipment library. This position in the maintenance classification is expected to perform the job functions under minimal or no supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Review all pertinent SOPs and is a QI (Qualified Individual) for the position
- Maintains a clean, organized working environment at all times.
- Coordinates with the receiving department to match all packing slips to items received.
- Coordinates with the purchasing department to keep open purchase orders up-to-date with a two month back log.
- Writes requisitions for parts and other plant items and routes for approval
- Locate and evaluate other sources (vendors) for purchasing of parts, or repairs of parts and service of equipment.
- Research needed parts of older machinery.
- Implements periodic competitive bidding to ensure best price and service level.
- Track and provide metrics related to costs of parts and repairs
- Initiates purchase orders for requisition of parts, tools, lubricants, parts cleaner, wipers, and/or repairs of parts or equipment
- Maintains multiple part locations
- Completes daily Tabware entries such as work orders, equipment, and minimum/maximum levels.
- Maintains an organized vendor filing system.
- Keeps all shelves and cabinets clean and labeled and/or bar coded.
- Maintains copies of any documents, department SOPs, forms, and training materials
- Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA and HACCP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
- Performs weekly cycle counts and tracks root causes to accuracy variances
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and math skills.
- Previous industrial training and/or parts control experience preferred
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment
- Good technical and mechanical skills
- Effective oral, written, and listening communication skills with group speaking requirement.
- Good Manufacturing Knowledge/ Experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to work well with others
- Problem solving and leadership experience a plus.
Working Conditions/Environment:
Works in a?manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk,?climb, crouch,?lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility. Must be able to move 75 pounds a distance of 25 feet or more at various frequencies and or intervals. Must be able to stand for an 8 10 hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks while performing repetitive tasks. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee may be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors,?moving parts/equipment. The noise level is loud in the plant. Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant shoes, and gloves are required as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
