Salary : $64,659.86 - $74,358.84 AnnuallyLocation : 300-B California Avenue, Moncks CornerJob Type: Full TimeJob Number: 01441Department: Clerk of CourtOpening Date: 10/24/2024Closing Date: ContinuousJob Summary and Essential Functions includes staff evaluations and training; enforces office policies and procedures; interacts with attorneys and members of the judiciary on a daily basis; assists in the courtroom when necessary; and deals courteously and effectively with fellow employees and citizens. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Participates in the short and long-range planning of personnel. Assists with day-to-day operations of the department and staff supervision; to include all NeoGov applications, interviews, manuals, training logs, training with department supervisors.
  • Interacts with the public to resolve complaints.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work independently.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in performing duties and protect operations by keeping personal information confidential.
  • Maintains and prepares complex clerical records and reports.
  • Reviews and verifies all daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reports are completed and submitted within required due dates.
  • Ensures quality of service to individuals utilizing the services of the Clerk of Court, including the resolution of customer complaints when necessary.
  • Ensures efficient operation of courts and proceedings, including General Sessions, Common Pleas, Family Court docketing, record keeping and child support collections enforcement, record retention maintenance and schedules.
  • Interacts with attorneys, members of the judiciary, county and state officials.
  • Assists in the courtroom when necessary.
  • Determines staffing requirements and interviews, trains new employees or oversees those personnel processes.
  • Implements and enforces procedures, department policies and guidelines.
  • Updates programs and services to improve the efficiency of operations and reduce costs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements to Perform Work
  • Associate degree in Management, Business or a related field;
  • Six (6) years of experience in business including supervisory experience;
  • Or equivalent education, and/or experience;
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license for South Carolina with safe driving record;
Special Requirements:
  • Departmental testing may be administered during interview;
  • A criminal background check will be completed on selected applicant if a current one (less than 3 years old) is not on file.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of budget management and recommendations.
  • Ability to multi-task, have good interpersonal skills, decision making and accountability; commitment to continuous improvement; elevated personal and work ethics.
  • Skill in excellent communication, both oral and written.
  • Skill in managing inventory.
  • Ability to use small equipment.
  • Ability to use computers, including Word and Excel.
Physical Demands This position requires the employee to sit, stand, balance and use hands to handle, feel, finger, grasp or operate objects, tools or controls; reach, push and pull with hands and arms; use mental acuity and repetitive motion; and climb, crawl, crouch, walk, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Work Conditions The work is regularly performed in a relatively safe, secure and stable work environment. Thirty-seven and one half (37.5) hours per week. Normal operating hours are Monday through Friday 9:00am until 5:00pm with the ability to work flexible hours when necessary. Scheduled hours/days, job location, duties and any other information contained herein is subject to change.
