The Shipping and Receiving Clerk I is responsible for assembling orders and preparing goods for shipment. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk I also receives, unpacks, inspects, and stores incoming materials and supplies. In addition, will use shipping records to verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments and orders and record within the database.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Accurately pull, pack, weigh and label outgoing shipments to company standards
- Ensure all shipping documents are accurate and complete
- Schedule shipments and logistics and determines best shipping methods, costs and prepares shipping labels
- Operate motorized material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack, Wave work assist or cardboard shredder)
- Operates department equipment which may include computers, printers, tape machines, and carts.
- Receive and rotate products into Finished Goods.
- Engages with vendors and drivers with a positive attitude
- Provides additional backup support for shipping and receiving departments
- Follow all safety guidelines
- Maintain a clean and organized working area
- May perform cycle counts and physical year-end inventory (as applicable)
- Building wood crates as needed
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
- Demonstrate ability to speak clearly to be understood in one-on-one conversations.
- Strong problem-solving skills to assess product output relative to specifications.
- Basic computer skills, including experience with shipping software and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent time management skills
- Basic knowledge of arithmetic- adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying and using a measuring tape
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Education and/or Experience: - 0 - 1 Years' experience with manufacturing, purchasing, inventory, or related functions.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Physical Demands: - Physical ability to climb stairs, bend, sit, stand, walk, reach with arms, push, pull and use hands and fingers to feel and handle material for extended timeframes.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly. Includes the ability to stoop, squat, crawl, and kneel as needed.
