Position Summary The shipping clerk will be responsible for assembling crates/boxes and handling the coordination of shipments including packaging, and labeling finished products, equipment, and parts to be shipped to customers in a timely fashion to assure scheduled ship dates; maintain excellent records of product shipped, means of shipping, and expected delivery dates. Essential Duties/Job Responsibilities (Job Duties)
- Manage the packaging and shiping of all products, materials, and equipment.
- Use job specific tools and equipment to assemble and repair crates for large products to be shipped.
- Scan and sort outgoing stock.
- Pack/pad products, materials, and equipment into crates for shipping.
- Attach accurate identification labels to shipping crates/boxes.
- Track, trace, and update the status of outgoing shipments.
- Record and maintain an accurate log sheet of shipments and assist in inventory control.
- Verify accuracy of packages/shipments according to their order and invoices (quantity, quality, price, etc.)
- Perform material handling functions, including properly loading and storing materials for shipment using hoist or forklift.
Minimum Qualifications/Skills:
- High School Degree or GED
- Strong organizations skills and attention to detail.
- Basic math and record keeping abilities.
- Ability to work independently within a team environment
- Ability to skillfully and safely operate job specific tools and equipment
- Verbal and written communication skills.
Experience:
- A minimum of one year of warehouse/distribution center experience.
- Previous shipping experience preferred.
- Experience in a light manufacturing setting preferred.
- Forklift experience a plus.
Requirements:
- Work environment and working conditions are reflective of a light manufacturing setting.
- Perform work on concrete floors for duration of shift.
- Must be able to lift and move (push, pull, carry) items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to raise arms above shoulders regularly and freely rotate arms/shoulders to lift/move parts.
- Must be able to kneel, crouch, stoop, bend and squat when needed.
- Work will include repetitive hand, arm, wrist, and leg motion.
- Will need hand and finger flexibility and dexterity and excellent eyesight with or without corrective lenses.
