DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Clerk Typist 2, work involves providing secretarial services to the Behavioral Health, Intellectual/Developmental Services and Drug and Alcohol Services Program's Base Service Unit, consisting of Program Specialists, Supervisors, and case managers. You will be responsible for telephone coverage to the BH/IDS/D&A Base Service Unit, verifying Medicaid status, and corresponding with courts or probation regarding DUI client recommendations. Work includes independently and accurately typing correspondence, studying, and analyzing operational procedures, and processing referrals and requests for services.

Other duties to include but not limited to:

  • Data entry, maintenance of data programs, and running reports from the BH/IDS Program's CPR-Web computer system and Statewide HICSIS System.
  • Maintaining active files for BH/IDS, both paper and scanning files. Purging/shredding files as necessary.
  • On an as needed basis (a floater) providing secretarial coverage to other units in the BH/IDS Program in the absence of secretarial support staff. This will include the Psychiatric Outpatient Medication Clinic, (working with psychiatrists, nurses, case managers and consumers), taking telephone calls, making appointments, preparing charts, and filing said charts, the ID Unit, the Early Intervention Program, and the BH/IDS Administrator if necessary.
  • Ensuring mail is processed in the most efficient way.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerk Typist 1 and educational development to the level of eighth grade; or
  • Completion of a high school business curriculum which included at least one typing course; or
  • Any combination of equivalent experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, or Union Counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
