Job Description:

This is a merit-hire position. The starting pay rate for this position is $17.02. This position is covered by a Collective bargaining Agreement. Dauphin County Children & Youth Services is currently accepting applications for the Clerk Typist 3 position. An Employee in this position performs complex clerical work which requires the utilization of organization and word processing skills, and the application of independent judgment. Responsibilities include skilled development of letters, forms and excel spreadsheets to be utilized by Ongoing Division staff as well as other staff outside of the Division. Work includes responsibility for maintaining numerous spreadsheet logs to monitor data related to the legal process and Department of Human Services requirements for children and families. This position requires creating and maintaining files for the Ongoing Division; organizing data management system as directed; and completing general clerical duties for the department. The incumbent reports directly to the Ongoing Division: Out-of-Home Manager but will provide assistance to the entire department as requested. Work normally involves making independent decisions concerning the process to be followed, the appropriateness of the information to be processed, and the actions to be taken.

Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:

Six months as a Clerk Typist 2, and a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Or one year of progressively complex clerical typing experience and a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Or six months of moderately complex clerical typing work and completion of a post high school business curriculum and a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Other Requirements:

At the time of hire, a valid driver's license and positive driving record, a favorable criminal background check, child abuse and FBI clearances, as well as favorable references are required. The applicant must provide proof of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license within 60 days from the date of hire. An alternative form of identification will be accepted if you are not eligible to receive a Pennsylvania driver's license under 67 PA. Code 83 and driving is not an essential function of the position.
