Essential Job Functions Kirkland & Ellis LLP is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual for the role of Client Engagement Documents Specialist on the Risk Management Compliance team. This is an exciting opportunity to assist the Firm with its compliance obligations in a dynamic, cross-functional department while contributing to the success of the Firm. The Specialist works closely with other Risk Management Compliance team members to identify potential risks, communicating potential resolutions, and secure the necessary approvals as part of the Firm's Risk Management Compliance program. The role is critical to the Firm's ability to successfully meet its diverse and ongoing obligations to its clients. This position requires someone who is intellectually curious and independent and who has a collaborative mindset, an acute attention to detail, the ability to work well under pressure, and who understands the meaning of exceptional customer service.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Under the direction of the Client Engagement Documents Manager and Risk Management leadership, the Specialist works closely with attorneys, the Office of General Counsel and members of the Risk Management around the globe to process requests associated with accepting and indexing client engagement documentation.
- Advise Firm attorneys and staff on the Firm's ability to comply with outside counsel guidelines and recommend modifications as needed.
- Respond to inquiries from the Office of the General Counsel, Risk Management leadership and attorneys with accurate information in a timely and professional manner.
- Develop a broad subject matter expertise regarding outside counsel guidelines provisions and the Firm's policies regarding such provisions.
- Oversee collection of required engagement and waiver documentation. Review executed retention letters and waivers, seeking approval when needed, and index in appropriate documentation repositories.
- Draft and negotiate retention letters and specific waivers as requested.
- Provide high-level customer service to attorneys in varying capacities.
- Assist department leadership as needed and contribute to ad hoc projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements - A bachelor's degree is required.
- 4-5 years of experience in law firm risk management, including conflicts searching, business intake/acceptance or similar compliance functions experience is ideal.
- Experience with Intapp software solutions including Terms, Intake and Conflicts is strongly preferred.
- A desire to work in a flexible environment with an ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities is a must.
- The ideal candidate must interact well with people at all levels with a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
