Job Purpose:The primary purpose of the Client Transporter role is to operate the agency-owned van to safely transport clients to and from community-based treatment programs. The population served are adjudicated youth and at times, their parent/guardian. Looking for a candidate with availability Monday - Friday from 2pm-8pm. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow assigned route for pick up and drop off of clients/assigned passengers
- Ensure safety of all passengers by following all traffic laws and guidelines including varying traffic conditions and inclement weather
- Maintain a clean and mechanically sound vehicle at all times
- Report all vehicle maintenance needs/issues/concerns in a timely manner
- Keep accurate driving records and reports as required
- Act in an appropriate and professional manner at all times
- Ability to deal with varying behaviors and characteristics of clients/passengers including the use of verbal de-escalation skills when necessary
- Expect clients/passenger's adherence to transport safety rules and guidelines
- Adheres to all agency and program, policy and procedure handbooks
- Completes initial and ongoing agency training as required including building safety, policy and procedure, Growth Works Incorporated (GWI) custom training and Detroit Wayne Connect (DWC) topics
- Ability to form and maintain positive working relationships with supervisor, co-worker, clients/passengers
- Complete other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; prior professional driving experience with references
- Have and maintain a valid State of Michigan chauffeur's license good driving record, reliable transportation and automobile insurance meeting minimum requirements as defined by the agency
- Ability to work non-traditional schedule including evenings and occasional weekend hours
- Demonstrate knowledge of service delivery area
- Knowledge of traffic laws and local ordinances related to transportation
- Able to implement verbal de-escalation techniques as necessary
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population
- Successful completion of initial and on-going employment screens, including, but not limited to criminal and sex offender background checks, drug screen, abuse and neglect check and vehicle record check as required
- Available Monday - Friday 2pm-8pm
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to complete manual tasks while transporting clients such as opening and closing all vehicle doors and ensuring a clean and maintained vehicle
- Ability to lift and transport materials/supplies up to 25 lbs. for internal documentation and recordkeeping, court support, and other administrative tasks.
Schedule:
- Part time, 20-25 hours/week employee. Must maintain evening hours and a flexible schedule as needed.
