Description of JobPosition Title: Climate Preparedness ManagerDepartment: Governor's Office of Climate Preparedness and Disaster RecoveryFLSA Status: ExemptOrganizational Relationships: This position reports to the Director of Climate Preparedness and Disaster Recovery and may supervise others.Expected Annual Travel: Minimum in-state travelSalary Range: $65,000 to $80,000 annuallySummary of Functions: This position will have several key functions. First, this position will project manage implementation and long-term updating of the state's climate preparedness risk-evaluation and roadmap, promoting a proactive, forward-looking and state government-wide approach to climate adaptation and readiness consistent with the Office's and roadmap's initiating legislation SB22-206. Second, in carrying out the project management activities associated with implementing the state's first Climate Preparedness Roadmap, this position will be responsible for coordinating key partners, consultants, stakeholders and others for actions both associated with the implementation of the 2023 Roadmap, and as the office begins organizing for the 2026 update. This will include significant levels of organizing and outreach amongst numerous groups and individuals, and direct efforts to grow external relationships and engagement amongst key community groups, subject matter experts and disproportionately impacted individuals and communities. Lastly, the position will provide project management support to organizing external and internal partners to advance projects and coordination related to extreme heat risks and climate adaptation opportunities with the Colorado Climate Corps supporting ServeCO among others associated with the implementation of the Climate Preparedness Roadmap. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage external coordination and collaboration efforts, including with external organizations, individuals, stakeholder groups, institutions and consultants and contractors in carrying out special projects, events and similar activities.
- Project manage development of roadmap update due Dec 2026, including organization and planning of the update, and contractor management.
- Support implementation and project management of climate preparedness roadmap including supporting the office in evaluating progress, needs and prioritization of projects and activities that lead to successful implementation and progress.
- Carryout research and policy development where needed related to updating the Climate Preparedness Roadmap and implementation of 2023 roadmap.
- Provide staff program management capacity to internal and external coordination efforts, including those associated with interagency extreme heat efforts and the Colorado Climate Corps
- Assist in hiring and managing consultants to update and implement the statewide climate preparedness roadmap.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Three or more years experience in climate adaptation or environmental policy, natural resources or other related fields is desirable;
- Strong project management skills, including organizational and time and task management skills.
- Strong organizing skills including communication and coordination across independent entities, engaging outside organizations, stakeholders and subject matter experts; group scheduling, inclusive engagement, and consultant management skills.
- Strong writing and communication skills to analyze and distill complex information into concise and understandable terms;
- Familiarity with reading and analyzing federal and state laws and regulations;
- Strong problem-solving skills, including experience in identifying solutions, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures;
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, including experience working effectively with a wide range of constituents in diverse communities and ensuring a focus on equity;
- Computer skills, including proficiency using Google Suite programs.
