Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Climate Resilience Specialist capable of providing resilience and climate change consulting, public policy review, housing research, project management, grant development, property insurance and mortgage affordability and availability analyses, and technical writing for a diverse team of engineers, architects, building officials, scientists, and planners. The new hire should be capable of proactive project execution with collaboration and coordination with junior and senior staff. Assumed tasks include successful support of client meetings and stakeholder workshops by providing calendar coordination, draft and final agendas, detailed meeting minutes, and execution of action items. The Climate Resilience Specialist will be responsible for support of final delivery of products that are on budget, on time, and meet or exceed client expectations. This role includes coordination with junior and senior staff on deliverable timelines, facilitation of technical reviews with SMEs, and final confirmation of grammar and formatting. The Climate Resilience Specialist will work with other senior staff to respond to RFPs and evaluate business development opportunities. This hire should have a strong technical research background with the ability to summarize findings in a succinct and thorough manner which can be understood by other technically proficient individuals and, at times, laymen as well. Strong communications skills including PowerPoint presentations, report preparations, and technical emails are required. A general interest in resilience, housing policy, climate change, equity, inclusion, hazard mitigation, emergency management, climate action plans, urban planning, stormwater systems, and building science is preferred. Experience in GIS software, workgroup facilitation, survey development and collection, data visualization, mapping, planning, database management, and grant funding is a plus.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Researching technical government and private sector documents
  • Facilitating stakeholder feedback through surveys and workshops
  • Providing interpretation of government requirements including resilience policies, building codes, insurance policies, and floodplain ordinances
  • Summarizing technical documents/requirements into layman's terms through written and verbal communication
  • Supporting the preparation of technical reports and presentations which summarize findings
  • Designating tasks and responsibilities to internal staff, as well as partners and subconsultants
  • Providing technical writing, curriculum development, and formatting reviews of key deliverables
  • Supporting project management requirements including project reporting and safety assessments
  • Contributing to RFPs and business development.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree; preferably in Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Communications, Environmental Sciences, Economics, Public Policy or equivalent
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Professional Engineering (PE), Registered Architect (RA), American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM), Project Management Professional (PMP), equivalent certification, or ability to attain similar certification within 24 months is preferred.
  • MPP, MS, or PhD a plus.

Salary Range(s):

  • $91,500 - $132,700 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI and MD
  • SF Area $104,800 - SF Area $152,000 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
