OverviewTRC is seeking a Climate Risk and Resilience Internto join TRC's Climate Solutions team supporting clients' growing needs for evaluating physical, transition, and organizational climate risks, and adaptation strategies. Our team supports transportation agencies, utilities, state agencies, private equity, and companies, among others. The successful candidate will be highly motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills and an enthusiastic commitment to client service and technical excellence. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of project managers and team leaders to implement climate services and develop proposals. ResponsibilitiesRESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the preparation of physical and transition climate risk reports and exhibits
- Analyze climate data to assess future change
- Prepare technical summaries, memoranda, and email correspondence
- Perform climate-related impact analyses
- Desktop research of past climatic events, damage metrics, adaptation strategies
- Prepare analysis to support Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
- Support Envision® Sustainability Framework analysis for client projects
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal TRC staff
- Support across our multi-faceted team such as researching, summarizing findings, supporting stakeholder engagement activities
- Other duties and special projects, as assigned
QualificationsREQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Climate Science, Biology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, Environmental Policy, Geography, or related field
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Strong ability to prioritize, organize, and perform across multiple work assignments
- Ability to draw insights from data analysis
- Excellent research and communication skills are mandatory
- Ability to work independently, as part of the team, and cross-collaboratively with other groups
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials
- Ability to translate technical topics into materials for non-technical audiences
- Proficiency or interest in computer coding for data analysis with R or other programs
- Experience or interest working with GIS systems
- Strong experience with Excel and proficient in other MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).
- Previous internship experience in a fast-paced, project-driven environment and/or strong leadership experience is preferred
