Start Date: ImmediatelyCompensation: $60-75,000Urban Arborists BTH is a knowledge driven, leading private tree-care company based in Red Hook, Brooklyn, serving the five boroughs of New York City and the surrounding tristate area. Urban Arborists is widely known for the accuracy of its recommendations and the quality of its work. You can check out the work we've done for some of our major institutional and municipal clients such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Evergreens Cemetery, NYU, and Madison Square Park. We also love to plant new trees. Over the past two decades, we have planted more than 7000 trees. We also serve hundreds of private clients annually, from those with humble urban backyards or container gardens to luxury condo terraces and historic estates.Responsibilities/DutiesWe are looking for a climbing arborist to join our dedicated arboricultural team. As a small and in-demand company we all wear many hats and are accommodating to each other's special skills and needs. We appreciate those who can recognize what needs doing and jump in with confidence. Job duties include visiting clients/job sites and estimating tree work; working with the crew to help undertake the pruning or removal of trees and shrubs; ensuring crew safety; researching, diagnosing, and writing reports on tree and plant health care issues; assessing tree life cycle management issues and diagnosing tree problems; assisting with tree management plans; performing tree risk assessments; managing and performing tree inventories; and managing tree planting projects, spring and fall, including selecting trees in nurseries and managing field crews.Client interface is a significant portion of the job so good rapport and ability to communicate clearly and effectively are critical.This is a job to grow in. It includes regular education opportunities, including advanced ISA and other qualifications, classes at the New York Botanical Garden, and tree management and IPM course work. UA has an excellent in-house library of books, journals and studies related to arboriculture.
