Job DescriptionSt. Olaf College Student Employee Job DescriptionJob Title: Climbing wall student managerClassification: Student Employee (non-exempt)Name and Address of Employer: St. Olaf College, 1520 St. Olaf Ave, Northfield, MN 55057If the position requires the student to work off campus, provide the name and address here:Department Name: Campus RecreationUnit Number (5 digits): 11730Length of Position: See Employment Authorization Contact Person/Supervisor: Pay Rate (Check One) Standard Hourly Rate x Supervisory/Special Skills Hourly RateDescription of the Position: (Purpose of the Position): Manage student staff of the Tostrud Climbing wall area and store room and enforce all wall policies and protocols.Transferable Skills: vigilance and risk management awareness, punctuality, attention to detail, leadership, teaching climbing skills, reliability, communication, management skills.Duties and Responsibilities: Train new climbing staff, Check in on them during first working shifts, Open and close the wall, monitor belayers, check in climbers and dispense equipment, belay climbers, manage and enforce safety policies of the climbing wall, perform all weekly and monthly documentation of equipment checks.perform equipment inventory and daily safety checks, perform belay tests for students wishing to be certified to belay at our wall, enforce all wall policies and protocols, schedule and teach lead climbing clinics.Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) must be belay certified, have CPR/AED certification and be a junior or senior student with one full year(preferably 2 years) of climbing staff experience.This job description is for general information purposes.
