Position Summary: This is a Full Time hourly nonexempt position. Responsible for admitting patients when they arrive to the facility. Ensure that all pertinent questions are asked and that all necessary documentation/paperwork is completed accurately. Process and receive payments on patient accounts.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcomes visitors in person or on the telephone, answering inquires; relaying calls to nurses/providers or to the correct department; giving directions; referring inquires to appropriate departments.
- Receiving and documenting payments on patient accounts completely and accurately.
- Registering patients completely and accurately as they present to the facility.
- Maintains department operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment in compliance with healthcare procedures and regulations.
- Adheres to infection-control protocols.
- Adheres to all hospital, clinic and departmental policies and procedures.
- Monitors and coordinates maintenance of equipment operation and inventory.
- Checks and maintains supply inventory for the department.
- Adapts to and supports change in a positive and professional manner. Cooperates with peers and supports group decisions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: The Admission Clerk must have the ability to move around freely, walk and sit for long periods of time; use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired; use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; bend or twist their body; understand the speech of another person and speak clearly so listeners can understand; and see details of objects that are less than a few feet away and at a distance. The Admission Clerk must be able to occasionally lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
