Job Description:

Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is looking to hire several part time aides for our Language to Literacy program this fall. These positions will work alongside speech language pathologists and teachers in area charter schools after school hours for about 2 hours/day for 2 days/week. This is an excellent opportunity for SLP college students to gain experience!

Job Summary: The clinic aide is responsible for assisting clinicians, clinic supervisors & directors as well as program coordinators with programmatic, clinical and contractual tasks. Such tasks will include but are not limited to preparing and organizing materials, implementing curriculum activities, attending to individual needs of students, being an integral part of classroom activities.

Essential Functions:

* Assist the Speech-Language Pathologist/Teacher in the implementation of curriculum activities. Assist in reinforcing targets as laid out by the Language to Literacy, Social Communication & Leap Into Literacy curriculums. Responsible for preparing and organizing activity supplies and materials. Work in small groups or one-on-one with students, reinforcing curriculum goals. Actively participate in activities facilitated by instructors.

* Work as a team member during all facets of program. Actively engage and interact with students in an appropriate manner. Provide explicit feedback and assist with behavior management. Assist and collaborate with colleagues. Attend and participate in trainings as well as daily/weekly meetings.

* Maintain a healthy, safe, and organized classroom environment. Attend to students' personal care needs and supervise as needed. Actively participate in the supervision of students. Sanitize and clean classrooms.

* Strictly follow the guidelines and codes of conduct for all BHSC staff, which includes procedures as stated in the employee handbook.

* Any other duty as requested by you supervisor.

Education:

Minimum Degree Required: High school Diploma or GED

Experience:

Minimum Experience Required: Preferred enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program at a four year accredited university or college studying speech-language disabilities or communication sciences and disorders

Physical Requirements:

* Vision, speech, tactical and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
