Position Type: Support Staff - Classified Positions/Clinic AideDate Posted: 8/5/2024Location: Dublin City School District TITLE: Clinic Aide -District JOB STATUS: FLSA Overtime Eligible REPORTS TO: Building Principal DEPARTMENT: Academics and Student Learning PAY RANGE: Four (4) POSITION SUMMARY: To assist the school nurse in providing routine clinic and emergency health care services to students, following policies, guidelines and procedures established by the school nurse, principal, state and the District. JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing (LPN) or Registered Nursing School (RN).
  • Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio.
  • Current CPR and first aid certification.
  • Willingness to complete district training for clinic aides.
  • Caring, friendly and nurturing attitude in working with students, parents and staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, set priorities and work well under emergency situations with attention to details.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with school nurse, parents, staff and students.
  • An excellent knowledge of typing and use of common office equipment.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Provides and documents all first aid care and treatment to ill and injured staff and students, as well as preventative care for students with chronic health conditions.
  • Performs nursing delegated procedures as indicated by doctor's orders.
  • Properly sets up, administers and records all medications dispened in the clinic according to District Policy and Guidelines.
  • Assists in the control of communicable diseases.
  • Assesses, records and maintains all student immunizations to comply with the District's Immunization Policy, and informs parents of non-compliance.
  • Maintains and enforces compliance of all student emergency medical authorization forms.
  • Performs health screenings and recording of student test results.
  • Maintains awareness of all current student health concerns for the building.
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining all clinical supplies and equipment within a budget set by the building principal.
  • Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the maintenance, repair and operation of equipment and machines [OSHA].
  • Assists the nurse in the surveillance and control of communicable disease.
  • Participates in the identification of students suspected of being abused or neglected.
  • Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the storage, use and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste and hazardous material [OSHA].
  • Maintains effective communications with the building nurse.
  • Ensures the safety of students.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relationships.
  • Remains free of any alcohol or nonprescription controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment in the district.
  • Exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment.
  • Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, and intelligent human beings.
  • Understands the legal responsibility to help instill in students the belief in, and practice of, ethical principles and democratic values.
  • Maintains confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 189 days (181 work days; 8 paid holidays) 7 hrs. per day or the equivalent excluding lunch. Salary as provided by the Negotiated Agreement. Work year to be established by the Board of Education. SALARY: $20.86/HR. - $23.06/HR.
