DescriptionThis position is scheduled 4 days/36 hours per week;One day per week = 8am-7pmThree days per week = 8am-5pm Weekend rotation in Urgent Care = approximately one weekend every 22 weeksRegional Family Health is not open on major holidaysSign on BonusRN: $1500 at 90 days/$1500 at 1 yearCMA/LPN: $1000 at 90 days/$1000 at 1 yearRN Wage Scale: $28.20-35.41LPN Wage Scale: $23.42-28.92CMA Wage Scale: $19.75-26.02This position assists Providers with patient examinations, treatments and procedures. This position is responsible for obtaining patient medical histories, performing routine laboratory procedures and collecting and preparing specimens for transportation to the lab in accordance with hospital and departmental standards and policies. The CMA/Nurse works with patients, families, providers, nursing staff, patient care representatives and ancillary staff to promote timely access to care, continuity of care, and to coach patients, families, and caregivers in understanding the patient's care plan and self-care management responsibilities.Applies effective communication skillsPrepares patient for examination by updating medication list and evaluating social and family historiesAssesses patient's vital signs, including height and weightAssists Providers in performing patient examinations and procedures: pap and pelvic exams, minor surgery, incision and drainage, aspiration, orthopedic cast removalGives medications and injections under provider supervisionExplains nature of examination, diagnostic tests, and/or treatment to patients at the Provider requestAssists with the collection of specimens: pap smears, throat cultures, urine samples etc.)Instructs patients regarding proper preparation for testsPrepares and replenishes suppliesCleans instruments and assures maintenance of diagnostic equipmentReceives and organize medication samplesAssists with ordering medical supplies and maintaining inventoryPerforms lab tests as ordered by ProvidersContacts patients with information regarding laboratory results, diagnostic results, changes in medication, scheduling of laboratory tests or procedures and referrals to specialistsAdvises patients on health concerns and distributes patient educationPerforms other specific duties as agreed upon between Provider and Supervisor to facilitate a smooth and effective operation Maintains obstetrical recordsAssists in ordering professional suppliesMaintains HIPAA compliance RequirementsGraduate of an accredited program for medical assisting, practical nursing or registered nursingCurrent certification or licensure to practice in IowaBLS certification (able to complete post hire)Child and Dependent Adult Mandatory Reporter training required (able to complete post hire)
