Overview:
Since inception, CHI St. Alexius Health Turtle Lake has been dedicated to serving the residents of Turtle Lake, ND and the surrounding rural communities. CHI St. Alexius Health includes the Turtle Lake Hospital, Turtle Lake and Washburn Family Clinics. CHI St. Alexius Health Turtle Lake includes services of a 26-bed facility, a rural health clinic, and an emergency department that is available 24 hours a day. We offer many outpatient services, including physical therapy, radiology services, laboratory services, cardiac rehabilitation, and IV treatments.
Responsibilities:
The Licensed Practical Nurse assesses, plans, implements and evaluates individual patient care in the clinic under the direction of the medical provider. Assists medical provider in clinical duties, ensure patients and families receive the highest quality care and knowledge promoting patient wellness. Coordinate the activities and the staff of Washburn Family Clinic to ensure effective and efficient quality care and delivery of clinic services in a cost effective and timely manner. Function according to State Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Policies & Procedures. All the criteria-based duties and standards within this document will be performed according to the policies, procedures, guidelines, Mission and Philosophy of Washburn Family Clinic and Community Memorial Hospital.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attains completion of individual goals/objectives as identified at last performance appraisal.
- Shows sufficient and ongoing knowledge of clinic wide safety practices and those that directly relate to his/her responsibilities. Completes and contributes to the nursing assessment of patient, preparing patient for exam according to providers preference and unit specific protocol. Assessment data collected is recorded and reported. Identifies signs and symptoms of deviations from normal health status in order for establishment of a nursing diagnosis. Evaluates and documents the patients response to care received. Oversees and updates job descriptions and performance standards. Oversees training and completes performance reviews. Serves as Medical Records custodian for clinic. Practices as team member in delivery of care.
- Demonstrates ability and knowledge in performing unit skills. Utilizes non-clerical work hours in promotion of quality care. Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates a variety of routine and special projects. Demonstrates leadership and professionalism by maintaining professional standards, participating in in-service/committees and individual professional growth. Supervises a wide variety of professional, technical and other individuals. Responsible for scheduling nursing staff including vacation and continuing education.
- Performs Annual Review and is knowledgeable in all RHC regulation and requirements. Ensures Clinic is compliant in all areas.
- Gathers a minimum of 9 hours of continuing education; Brings to nursing staff information received from outside workshops; Encouraged to participate in additional education opportunities including ACLS, PALS, TNCC etc;
- Attains 90% completion of personal/professional goals identified at last performance appraisal.
- Demonstrates understanding of ethical and legal aspects of health care.
- Assists other nursing and support staff to maintain provision of quality patient care.
Qualifications:
ND State Board of Nursing current RN or LPN License. (Licensed to practice registered nursing in the state of ND or in a compact state. Graduate Nurse (G.N.) must practice under the supervision of a registered nurse while the work authorization to practice is valid.)
