Job DetailsJob Location STW - Stillwater - Stillwater, MN Position Type Full Time Description This position will be with our Dry Eye department working as a scribe and assisting with dry eye procedure. This individual will primarily work in our Hudson and Stillwater locations, though there may be a need to travel to other locations and other specialties at times. Position Summary The Clinical Assistant assists providers in day-to-day clinic flow and delivering the highest standards of patient care by documenting the patient's exam into the electronic health record and assist with patient education and communication. This position will perform diagnostic testing and assist with in-office procedures as directed. This position will assist with internal and external communication to patients and/or as part of the provider care team. Clinical Assistant Essential Functions
- Assists with patient flow through clinic by greeting and rooming patients, scribing and walking patients to appropriate department (front desk, technicians, and patient care coordinators) to complete patient visit.
- Documents patient exams in electronic health record, noting specifically the exam components, diagnoses, treatment plans, orders, medications, return to clinic orders and coding of visit and charges are accurate as directed by the physician.
- Assists with diagnostic testing including but not limited to visual field tests, photos, and OCT imaging.
- Provides patient and family counseling and education as needed.
- Dispense medication prescriptions or over the counter samples as directed by the physician.
- Travels with physician to various sites to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
Clinical Assistant Other Essential Functions
- Must be willing and able to work a variety of hours and work in various locations as needed.
- Must present self at the workstation, ready for work, at the scheduled time.
- Works with all AEC providers
- Participates in department and company meetings, as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation & Licensing
- High School Diploma, or equivalent, required
Experience
- 1-2 years experience in an ophthalmology or optometry practice preferred
- 1-2 years experience with previous electronic medical record experience (NextGen) preferred
