Clinical Assistant - Lake View Clinic - Two HarborsLocation: TWO HARBORS, MNFacility: LAKE VIEWSchedule: Part-time - Days - 8 hoursThe Clinical Assistant, under the medical direction of the Clinic Physicians, and the general administrative direction of the Clinic Manager, is responsible for providing assistance to the Physicians and Mid-Level Practitioners through coordination of the patient visit and performing designated procedures and patient care. Administers and arranges for oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications and immunizations. Participates in quality and safety control. Provides support service within Clinic when not providing patient care. Maintains exam and treatment room supplies. If qualified and trained, may provide back-up for simple Laboratory services. May perform EKGs and assist with Cardiac Stress Testing.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience: Sufficient training and/or experience to maintain the required licensure/certification/registration.Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) registration/certification from a Medicare recognized organization such as; National HealthCareer Association, American Association for Medical Assistants, National Association for Health Professionals, or the Registered Medical Assistant certification (RMA) from American Medical Technologist OR licensed as a Paramedic, EMT, RN, LPN, or other licensure recognized under CMS Meaningful Use standards within 120 days of hire. BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Military Training Network within ninety (90) days of hire.Once obtained, the required licensure/certification/registration must be maintained.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Associate Degree from a (two) 2-year college or technical school.Experience: Medical Clinic experience preferred.Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current certification in basic cardiac life support (BCLS).KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESKnowledge of the current practice standards that apply to clinical or medical assisting, including functions that support ambulatory family practice services. Knowledge of equipment commonly used in a family practice setting. Knowledge of medical record documentation and customer relations principles. Knowledge of computer keyboarding. Ability to perform tasks within scope of education and experience. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work collaboratively with the patient care providers and support staff to meet the health care needs of the patient. Ability to exercise good judgment and accept personal responsibility. Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with all persons involved in the delivery of health care services. Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions. Ability to administer injections. Ability to demonstrate positive customer relations behaviors in person and on the telephone and to present a professional image. Ability to use the telephone and to perform routine computer data entry functions. Ability to write legibly, see, hear, speak English, and read. Working knowledge of computer processes appropriate to the functional area.READING - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Intermediate Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or interpret bar graphs to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
