Description

Position Summary

Walsh University invites applications for a core faculty member within the Occupational Therapy program. The position is a 12-month, non-tenure clinical faculty appointment with rank commensurate with experience. The faculty member will be instrumental in teaching, developing new courses, and advancing the mission and vision of Walsh University and the occupational therapy program.

We seek a dynamic educator who will collaborate with our current faculty to deliver an innovative and contemporary entry-level occupational therapy program. Potential exists to develop courses and teach in our developing post-professional occupational therapy doctoral program that is delivered in an online format. Teaching in a developing an entry-level doctoral program will be expected. Candidates with expertise in any area of occupational therapy will be considered. Candidates with expertise in musculoskeletal, adults, and biomechanics experience preferred.

Our Occupational Therapy program is housed within the School of Behavioral and Health Sciences, which includes graduate programs in Physical Therapy and Counseling and Human Development and undergraduate programs in Exercise and Social and Behavioral Sciences. Opportunities exist for collaboration within the Schools on campus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary academic responsibilities include teaching, scholarship, and service. Teaching will be based on the candidate's area(s) of expertise, including mentorship of student led evidence-based practice projects. Other responsibilities include program implementation and assessment consistent with accreditation requirements; academic advising; new course development; participation in program and university governance; pursuit of active scholarship; and participation in strategic planning initiatives and implementation. Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Must understand and support the Mission, Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University, as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and possess the following:

Education:

* Occupational Therapy degree from a program accredited by ACOTE

* Earned terminal degree (PhD, EdD, ScD, OTD, etc.); candidates with a master's degree will be considered with the expectation of completing a doctoral degree

* Licensed in the state of Ohio; or eligible for license in Ohio

Work Experience:

* Teaching experience in Occupational Therapy preferred

* Evidence of a scholarly agenda

* Record of professional service

* Minimum of 3-year occupational therapy clinical practice experience

Skills and abilities:

* Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff and faculty. Positive attitude a must.

* Ability and willingness to develop and teach courses in area(s) of expertise

* Time management

* Organizational skills

* Technology skills
