Position Title Clinical Assistant Professor and Assistant Fieldwork Coordinator of Occupational Therapy Position Number 896932 School/Division School of Health Sciences Department Full-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description

Hofstra University's Department of Allied Health and Kinesiology in the School of Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor and Assistant Fieldwork Coordinator of Occupational Therapy. A clinical faculty position in the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy Program. This is a 12-month position, and the appointment begins on June 1, 2025. The successful candidate will report to the Occupational Therapy Program Director and work closely with the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator to support all aspects of fieldwork education and ensure compliance with ACOTE standards.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Reporting directly to the Occupational Therapy Program Director,

* Collaborating with the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator on all aspects of the Fieldwork Education and maintaining compliance with ACOTE standards as delineated in Section C.

* Assigning and supervising Level I and Level II students.

* Maintaining a sufficient number of fieldwork site agreements to make sure students complete required coursework on time each semester.

* Ensuring Level I and Level II students are supervised by a currently licensed or otherwise regulated occupational therapist who has a minimum of 1 year of full-time practice experience following the initial certification.

* Provides program-specific expertise and is actively engaged in relevant department initiatives.

* Experience with fieldwork database management systems (e.g., EXXAT, Formstack).

* Communicating with fieldwork site supervisors.

* Maintaining required documentation and submitting reports required for the accreditation.

* Teaching occupational therapy-related courses as assigned by the Program Director.

* Attend committee, department, college, and university meetings as approved by the program director.

* Maintain regular approved office hours.

* Follow established protocols for providing timely feedback, academic advising, and assessment of student learning.

Qualifications

Successful candidates for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor and Assistant Fieldwork Coordinator of Occupational Therapy will possess the following:

* Preference given to candidates currently certified by NBCOT.

* Minimum of 5 years of occupational therapy practice and at least 2 years of teaching experience in an occupational therapy program (adjunct, part-time, or full-time).

* Candidates with less than 5 years of experience but with outstanding academic performance (e.g., enrolled in terminal degree programs such as OTD, EdD, PhD, ScD), notable scholarship, or clinical achievements (e.g., ATP, CHT, BCP certifications) will be considered.

* Enrolled in post-professional degree or interest in enrolling in post-professional degree (i.e., PhD, OTD, EdD, DHSc, DSc, ScD).

* Licensed or eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in New York.

* Commitment to academic excellence, scholarship, and professional growth.

* Proven ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and colleagues across disciplines, fostering an educational environment built on respect, integrity, teamwork, and professionalism.

* Knowledge of ACOTE standards, legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues, and current trends in occupational therapy is expected.

* Knowledge of state, federal, and local laws/regulations relating to programs, governmental compliance, and other regulatory standards.

* Skills to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students for clinical placements and work effectively with faculty, colleagues, and students are required.

Preferred Quals Summary

* Demonstrated teaching experience and fieldwork Level 1 and Level II supervision are preferred.

* Demonstrated teaching experience with content expertise in various disciplines (pediatrics, adults' disability, assistive technology, etc.

* Earned terminal doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy, Health Sciences, or related field

* Teaching experience in a doctoral or master therapy program.

* Established record of scholarship including research, conference presentation and awards.

* Evidence of commitment to developing an interdisciplinary project among other allied health colleagues.

* Actively involved in the occupational therapy profession or interest in becoming engaged in the AOTA, NYSOTA within its academies and/or chapters.
