Three (3) positions available in total.StatusFull Time/ExemptJob SummaryJacksonville University, ranked as a Best Regional University by US News & World Report, invites applications for multiple full-time, 12-month open rank faculty positions in non-tenure earning lines for the developing Brooks Rehabilitation Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. A strong clinical background in treating individuals across the lifespan is desired. Preference will be given to candidates who also hold a terminal academic degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, DSc) and/or specialty certification; however, all qualified applicants are welcome to apply. As a core faculty member, the candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching in addition to scholarship and academic service responsibilities. Individuals must have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, exhibit collegiality, and prioritize teamwork. The following content areas are needed to fill the full faculty for the developing DPT program: Basic Sciences (anatomy, physiology, pathology, neuroscience, etc.), Neuromuscular Physical Therapy, Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy, Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy, Biomechanics & Exercise Science (Strength & Conditioning), Geriatric and/or Pediatric Physical Therapy. Priority hiring is for the first two (2) positions to be content experts in the basic sciences and neuromuscular physical therapy. The remaining faculty positions will be focused on other content areas needed to satisfy and round out the full faculty for the physical therapy program. These are faculty positions with teaching, scholarship, advisement, and service responsibilities. These positions are in person in Jacksonville, FL, and require significant contact with students, outside constituents, and professional consortiums. Successful applicants are expected to engage in scholarly activities and public service at the university and in the local community. Classroom instruction, clinical instruction, DPT student advising, and mentorship are required. Coordination and interprofessional collaboration of teaching, clinical, and outreach activities is expected within the college, school, and department. In addition to the typical faculty responsibilities listed below, the faculty will also be required to be a part of the development process for the new DPT program. This includes but is not limited to, curriculum development, policy/procedure development, course development, and assistance with CAPTE documents.Supervisory Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Report to the DPT Program Director
  • Teach courses in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program that are consistent with area(s) of expertise
  • Identify and assess student learning and outcomes using a variety of feedback and assessment methods
  • Regularly contribute to the improvement or upgrading of class materials and syllabi
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methodologies to instruct students, always with the intent to facilitate observable evidence of student fulfillment of prescribed learning outcomes
  • Confer with students for advisement and mentoring to maximize learning during didactic and clinical experiences
  • Assist with coordinating community service programs
  • Design, review, and implement didactic and clinical course content with the other faculty and program director.
  • Make recommendations regarding curriculum to faculty based on course outcome data
  • Promote evidence-informed practice
  • Represent the DPT program at community events and help to educate the University and larger communities regarding the physical therapy profession
  • Perform academic responsibilities consistent with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), and with institutional policy. Manage administrative responsibilities consistent with CAPTE, federal/state regulations, institutional policy, and practice-setting requirements
  • Serve on Departmental, College, and/or University Committees
  • Maintain an active scholarly agenda that is commensurate with CAPTE and University requirements
  • Perform institutional responsibilities and professional service which contribute to the fulfillment of the University's mission.
  • Maintain professional competency in physical therapy.
  • Maintain professional licensure and participate in activities of professional organizations and in continuing education programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends in health care and its effect on physical therapy education
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director and/or Associate Dean and Dean
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Instruct, professionally communicate and demonstrate skills/techniques to healthcare students
  • Self-directed, have computer proficiency that includes the knowledge necessary to develop case scenarios, simulations, presentations and course content
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to evaluate students in the teaching/learning lab environment
  • Knowledge of effective teaching techniques and curriculum development
  • Skill in facilitating the development of student clinical decision-making and clinical reasoning
  • Ability to design effective learning activities for students
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff
  • Role model professionalism and maintain professional skills lab environment for students
Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program
  • Terminal doctoral degree preferred (PhD, EdD, DBA, DHSc, etc)
  • ABPTS certified preferred as appropriate for content area
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-licensure clinical practice required
  • Eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in the state of Florida required (must be fully licensed in the state of Florida at the start of employment)
  • Experience with curriculum development and administration preferred
  • Experience in scholarly activity preferred
  • Prior teaching experience (in some capacity) in an entry-level DPT educational program.
Physical Requirements
  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines.
  • Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens.
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone.
  • Able to lift and turn objects up to 50 lbs. without physical restriction.
